{"id":227,"date":"2020-10-18T21:57:38","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T04:57:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gsdhja.org\/wp3\/?page_id=227"},"modified":"2022-04-25T21:03:58","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T04:03:58","slug":"champ-show-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gsdhja.org\/wp3\/champ-show-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Champ Show Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry_wrap fix\">\n<div class=\"entry_content\">\n<h3><strong>Championship Show Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>1) In order to compete at the Championship Show and\/or accrue points towards GSDHJA Year End Awards, RIDERS, OWNERS (if different than riders) and RIDER\u2019S TRAINER must be members in good standing.<\/p>\n<p>2) In order to compete at the Championship Show in any GSDHJA Medal Finals, rider must have earned a certain number of points in that class during the current show season (see <a href=\"https:\/\/gsdhja.org\/wp3\/points\/\">Points page<\/a> under Medals).<\/p>\n<p>3) In order to compete at the Championship Show in any hunter, jumper and\/or equitation class horse\/rider must have earned at least one point in that division during the current show season. By division we mean all of Short Stirrup, or all of Green Riders, so if you earned a point in Short Stirrup Hunters O\/F \u00a0then you are automatically qualified to ride in ALL the classes of the Short Stirrup division (i.e. SS u\/s, SS Eq O\/F, SS Eq flat).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u2018A\u2019 Circuit Riders and Horses<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To qualify for the 2022 Championship Show you must compete in at least 2 county shows for the horse in hunter or jumper divisions &amp; at least 2 county shows for the rider in equitation divisions, medals, and achievement divisions.<\/p>\n<p>For a horse or rider to earn a year end award they must compete in a minimum of any 3 GSDHJA recognized shows in the 2022 season.<\/p>\n<p><b>This rule is strictly enforced for the Hunter Derby and the Equitation Challenge! It also applies to all \u201cfun\u201d classes such as Costume Class, Take Your Own Line, etc.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cross Entry Crossrails\/Short Stirrup<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At the champ show riders may compete in Crossrails 2X around AND Crossrails Course OR Crossrails Course AND Short\/Long Stirrup.\u00a0Riders MAY NOT Compete in Crossrails 2X around and Short\/Long Stirrup.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Green Riders &amp;\u00a0the Hunter Derby<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Can riders competing in Green Riders\u00a0can do the 2\u20196 section of the Hunter Derby even though the option fences are 2\u20199? \u00a0<strong>YES!\u00a0 <\/strong>GREEN RIDER HUNTER riders MAY ENTER THE 2\u20196 SECTION OF THE HUNTER DERBY<br \/>\nBUT!!!<br \/>\nDon\u2019t forget that by competing in the Hunter Derby that rider would be ineligible to compete in Green Rider next season, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/gsdhja.org\/wp3\/rules-specifications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GSDHJA rules <\/a><em>\u00a0that Riders also competing at 2\u20196 may only enter Green Rider if in their 1st season of showing 2\u20196.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hunter Warmups &amp; Special Jumpers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You will now sign up for your hunter warm up section the same way you would your regular classes (no more tickets).\u00a0 The horseshowtime software will only allow you to sign up for one round per section, but if time allows you may ride multiple times per section (except for SJ 4 and SJ 8 \u2013 these will be single rounds only).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Maiden, Novice and Limit Equitation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Every year questions come up about M\/N\/L equitation, so\u00a0we thought\u00a0we would address some of the common questions.<\/p>\n<p>#1 \u2013 You do not have to compete in\u00a0M\/N\/L Eq during the show season in order to\u00a0ride\u00a0in it at the Championship Show, BUT you do have to meet the eligibility requirements explained below!<\/p>\n<p>#2 \u2013 Maiden Eq \u2013\u00a0Open to jr\/am riders who have\u00a0not won a blue ribbon in equitation<\/p>\n<p>Novice Eq \u2013 Open to jr\/am riders who have\u00a0not won\u00a03\u00a0blue ribbons in equitation<\/p>\n<p>Limit Eq \u2013 Open to jr\/am riders who have not won\u00a06\u00a0blue ribbons in equitation<\/p>\n<p>#3\u00a0 \u2013 Open Equitation classes, medal classes, Green Rider Equitation and the M\/N\/L equitation classes\u00a0count towards your status.\u00a0 Wins in equitation classes that are run in conjunction with Crossrails and Short\/Long Stirrup do not count towards your M\/N\/L status.<\/p>\n<p>#4 \u2013 Wins in eq over fences count against your flat eq status, but wins on the flat do not count towards your over fences status.\u00a0 So if you have won\u00a04 blue ribbons over fences, your are ineligible to ride in maiden or novice eq flat or\u00a0over fences\u00a0<em>even<\/em> if you have never won a flat eq class.<\/p>\n<p>#5 \u2013 If you have won your way out of one of the categories during this show season, but BEGAN the show season eligible for that category, you can still compete in that category at the Championship show.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Don\u2019t remember how many times you won??\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>Look up your show record (or your clients) on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.horseshowtime.com\">www.horseshowtime.com<\/a>.\u00a0 You can\u2019t look it up on this site as we only track Open Eq. points, not M\/N\/L points. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PLEASE DON\u2019T GUESS!!\u00a0 If your name is often mispelled at horse shows, remember to search using all possible spellings.\u00a0 The M\/N\/L equitation classes are <em>infamous<\/em> for creating controversy at shows when riders compete in a section that they were not eligible for!\u00a0 Your show record is there for anyone to look up on the internet, and trust me, people will check.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So please, do your leg work\u00a0and check\u00a0your eligibility and cross entry restrictions for ALL classes!\u00a0 There are few things Show Management HATES more than having to take away a\u00a0rider\u2019s prize.\u00a0\u00a0It really sucks the fun out of everyone\u2019s day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OPEN EQUITATION OVER FENCES and cross entry restrictions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Can\u00a0riders who\u00a0compete\u00a0in the\u00a0higher H\/J divisions can drop down in order to compete in their age group eq over fences?<\/p>\n<p>The answer is YES!\u00a0 If you, for example, are 11 years old and compete in 2\u20199 hunter or jumper divisions, you can drop down an\u00a0ride in 11 &amp; under eq over fences (2\u20193) even though it\u00a0is a height difference of 6\u2033 or more.<\/p>\n<p>The reverse is not true though.\u00a0 If you ride in a lower H\/J division (say\u00a0long stirrup hunters at\u00a02\u20190), and you are 15, you cannot compete in the 14-17 equitation over fences which jumps at 2\u20199.\u00a0 Because, frankly, if you can get around a 2\u20199 eq course, what are you doing in long stirrup anyway?
